Hello! Thank you for checking out our second “Around Allandale” post.
First, we’d like to say THANK YOU! Nearly seven hundred of you came out for our 2018 Christmas tours and drank over twenty gallons of wassail. We appreciate Santa Claus and the Allandale Belle for taking the time out of their busy schedules to be with us. We look forward to seeing you at our 2019 tours!
We also recently had a good snowfall at the Mansion (and everywhere in our region). Over eight inches fell around the Mansion, knocking down trees and damaging gutters and landscaping. City crews and our wonderful landscaper have been working hard to get us restored to our usual beauty!
We will be closed for the Christmas holidays until December 26, 2018. We will also be closed January 1, 2019 for the New Year’s holiday.
A very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and yours!
Welcome to our first edition of “Around Allandale”, the blog keeping you informed about events happening in and around the Mansion!
Our fourth August concert series was a resounding success with large crowds, lots of families, and some delicious food trucks coming out to share a good time. We were happy to welcome PEAK (Kingsport’s Young Professional Organization) to partner with Friends of Allandale to make this event truly shine. Thank you to our performers: Vic Henley, Folk Soul Revival, Kyle Cook, and Beth Snapp. Another thank you goes out to Foodie Fiction, Backdraft BBQ, Sam’s Snoball Paradise, and Auntie Ruth’s Doughnuts for attending our event with your delicious food. A final thank you to Friends of Allandale, PEAK Kingsport, the Eastman Foundation, Eastman Credit Union, Visit Kingsport, and City of Kingsport staff for all your help in making this event a success. We look forward to next year’s concert series!
Next time you’re in the Mansion, take a look at our gorgeous William Barnish clock! “Clocking” in at over 200 years old, we recently made some small cosmetic repairs to this beauty so that it can be enjoyed for many years to come!
Our next community event will be our annual holiday tours. A Kingsport tradition, our holiday tours are a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Join us for a self-guided tour with cookies and wassail on the following dates:
Saturday, December 1: 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Sunday, December 2: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
We will post additional details as we get closer to the event, so be sure to check back either here on the website or on our Facebook page.
